Organizing Utility Tote
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a retro metro in orange. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway. I have the utility tote from 31 and I love it! It's my teaching bag for CCD, and it's great for carrying everything I need with a baby for an afternoon at the soccer field.
ReplyDeleteI love the Super Organizing Tote in 'Organic Poppy'
ReplyDeleteAs a Catholic, I am surprised you support Thirty One. They help fund abortion.

Looks like my comment got deleted. I just want to make people aware that Thirty One supports business that is NOT in line with the church. Being aware of this is important. Here is yet another great article.

I would love a large utility tote!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! I am a Thirty-One Consultant and another Catholic Blogger (but not the one handling this giveaway.) I want to take a moment to address your concern about Thirty-One and Planned Parenthood. Since the news broke in April, Thirty-One has produced a document detailing what organizations they support. They are:
ReplyDeleteDress for Success Worldwide
Blume Mission Conference
GOGO Gives: Get One Give One Gives
Safe Horizon – domestic violence shelter in NYC tied to GOGO
Domestic Violence Intervention Services
ROX: Ruling Our Experiences
Salvation Army
Project Woman
Interfaith Hospitality Network
YWCA of Central Ohio
Girl Scouts
The last two on the list are the ones that caused the most questioning among clients and consultants alike. The Official YWCA statement is that they DO NOT support (at a national, regional or local level) Planned Parenthood. Girl Scouts, as you are aware, is trickier and I (as a mom to a little who really wants to be a Girl Scout) am still muddling through. It appears that while the global organization (WAAGGS, I think?) may support PP, it is up to individual local councils to support or not support. In this case, the council in Ohio that Thirty-One supports has issued a statement that they DO NOT support PP. There was also question about the Women's Fund of Ohio. Thirty-One did not give any money to the Women's Fund, but some employees bought tickets (with their own money) and went to some fundraiser. It was "mistakenly listed as a partner" and they "do not plan to partner" with the Women's Fund.
Now, I realize that we are all in a game of "she said, she said" and the allegations of support got more coverage than the clearing of the air/ denial of that support (and I am a LifeNews.com subscriber!) Either way, all I can go on is what Thirty-One discloses, it's not up to me to decide whether or not they are lying or bending the truth. My Catholic heart and conscience is at ease. I hope this helps!
I have a slight purse obsession and haven't bought one since we got engaged(!) due to budget stuff, so I would love to win the $25 and splurge on a new purse!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the response. Yes, Girl Scouts and YWCA are what do it for me. And if Thirty One donates to them, as a Catholic, I won't give them my business. It's all too easy these days to look the other way. From Christian Digest: "Indeed, the Girl Scouts have partnered with Planned Parenthood to “bring information-based sex education programs to girls.” The YWCA has hooked up with the abortion “rights” organization to co-host workshops on youth pregnancy and prevention." These are facts. But tell yourself whatever helps you sleep at night. I won't be following your blog anymore and I really wish more Catholics would stop being so wishy-washy. Again, thank you for responding. I do appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome for the response. Again, I am not the Blogger behind Catholic Newlywed, and I do appeeciate our dialogue here. Take Care!
ReplyDeleteAmy, I'm so sorry to lose you as a reader (if that is indeed what you meant by "I won't be following your blog anymore". I'm not sure if you were referring to this blog or to Karianna's blog.) Various opinions are always welcome on this blog.
