Today is my brother-in-law's wedding. We've been busy all week with wedding activities and it's so exciting after months of waiting for this day for it to finally be here. This is the first wedding of a close family member/friend I've been a part of, and I'm a bit amazed by just how happy and excited I am for it! I think I'm enjoying myself much more than my own wedding because there aren't any stress and nerves involved, but still so much joy. Today we get to watch two very faithful young people celebrate the sacrament of marriage together and start their journey leading each other toward heaven! We are so blessed to be a part of it and have them in our lives!
This week, I published the first post in the Broken: rising above damaging relationships series. A young woman writes about her experiences: "Lucky for me, it was easy to get out of it. It wasn't so easy to pretend it never happened."
I had another great guest post this week, this one in my Baby on a Budget series. (Thank goodness for guest bloggers or I wouldn't have had any posts this week, I decided I needed a break for wedding events and family time.) Karen of Karen in Mommyland wrote about learning the value of hand-me-downs after initially turning them down. We love hand-me-downs in our household, so I definitely could relate to the advice in this post!
Last week, I shared my new obsession with The Hunger Games and asked for advice as to what book to read next now that I'm done. I received several recommendations for Ender's Game, so I've added that to my PaperBackSwap.com wish list... now let's see how long it will take for the book to be available! In the meantime, I'm dying to see The Hunger Games movie, but we'll have to wait until it comes out on video because it's not as easy to get to the movies now that we have a little one.

If you love the Hunger Games, you'll love these Hunger Games memes. My favorite is #3 - Hunger Games meets Ryan Gosling meme! To satisfy my Hunger Games obsession until I can see the movie, I've been looking all over the internet for Hunger Games info and, if anything, it's made me feel less of a crazed fan. For example, no matter how much I enjoyed the books, you won't see me getting one of these Hunger Games Mockingjay Tattoos. I love the Hunger Games and I love tattoos, but I just can't ever bring myself to get a tattoo based on a movie or book (and if I did, it wouldn't be from The Hunger Games, it'd be from "Boondock Saints" or Lord of the Rings, just sayin'). Would you ever get a book/movie inspired tattoo? If so, what would you get?
Although we don't use hormonal birth control (or contraception of any kind) due to our Catholic faith, I am so glad I don't use it for health reasons as well. I previously wrote about my past experiences with birth control in my post "Birth Control for Teens?" In it, I expressed my anger that my doctors didn't thoroughly warn me or my mom about the serious health risks associated with hormonal birth control. Well, I recently read a new article that gives yet another reason not to use birth control: Birth Control Pill May Affect Memory.
Wednesday night, David and I left Lucia with my aunt while we went to the bachelor and bachelorette parties. We've only left her without one of us twice before, once for 45 minutes and the other for two hours (both times with my parents), so this was a BIG deal. We were gone for about six hours and I was on pins and needles the whole time. I couldn't call to check on her because I didn't want to freak myself out had I called and found out she wasn't doing well since I had no way to get to her (I carpooled with others to and from the festivities. Turns out I had nothing to worry about; she was asleep by nine and slept the whole night through like an angel!

Um, there are going to be eight quick takes today because I almost forgot to mention that David and I met our baby goddaughter this week. We're out for David's brother's wedding but I have family that lives here as well, including my cousin whose fiancee had their baby girl in January. David and I are her godparents. We weren't able to come out for the baptism, so this is the first time we me her. She is so cute, so tiny and dainty compared to Lucia, and the two little baby cousins hit it off just perfectly!
