I found the absolute most amazing baby board books ever. Seriously. Kelley of Over the Threshold sent me an oh-so-sweet email telling me about this post entitled 10 Books You Must Read to Your Daughter (Or How to Keep Your Daughter From Ending Up Like That Horrid Girl in Twilight). Great post! Great blog! But even more exciting... in the comments someone linked to this Pride and Prejudice Counting Primer. And that's not even the most exciting part; this is only one of a whole series of BabyLit board books inspired by the classics! So cool!
David got a job! This is big news and probably should come before cute board books, but hey, I don't feel like reordering it now. Before you start getting excited, let me tell you it's not a job in his field, it's at a coffee shop. But it's a job and it has benefits. We're really happy.
We are on the search for childcare for Lucia. Our first choice is to have her with a stay-at-home mom that wants to watch only one or two kids in addition to her own. We've found several in the area and are planning to meet with one this weekend. Since David's job schedule might be different each week, and we are hoping he'll be able to be off at least one of the days I work, we would only need someone to watch her a few days a week and those days might change weekly. That makes it a little harder since many moms looking to babysit are hoping for regular hours. Will you say a prayer for us that we find the right fit for our family?
Do you hate to throw out jars? It drives David and my parents crazy but I never throw (glass) bottles or jars out. They are just so useful and there have been a few time that I've really needed a few for a craft I wanted to do but didn't have any. So I've started a Pinterest board for jar crafts. David's been drinking those Starbucks drinks in the glass bottles and I can't wait to turn them into some of these great ideas!
Do you attend church on Sundays? Do you wear clothes to said church service? My friend, Kendra, is starting a new Sunday linkup on her new blog project, Fine Linen and Purple. It's called What I Wore Sunday and it's a chance to show off your church attire. If you don't have a blog to link up, definitely still check it out for some Sunday fashion inspiration!
I wrote a post earlier this week on what it's like to have a "mommy body". I was really nervous about writing it because I don't particularly like to talk about my insecurities, but I've gotten a ton of positive feedback and if it positively impacts just one woman, I'm glad I wrote it.
It's been quite a week:
Corn maze/pumpkin patch/petting zoo tomorrow!

I remember at our last parish whenever the 7 day candle (I think that is what it's called) for the tabernacle would burn out people would just leave them stacked in the sacristy because no one wanted to throw them away. We took a few home once for a craft project. We do buy a lot of sauce in jars but we just throw them away you are much smarter than me! I have wanted to learn how to can stuff but haven't yet.
ReplyDelete3. Childcare is the worst. It made me so sad, but once finding the "right" place, it certainly puts your mind at ease! Prayers going up for you!
ReplyDelete4. We save jars (some) and recycle the rest...
5. Love dressing for church. I'm in scrubs all week, so it's my time to get girly!
7. How precious is that face?!?!
Thanks for the shout-out, Mandi! That's so funny you mentioned the board books, because I also saw those and went to Amazon right away. I added most of them to my "when we have kids" wish list on there!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing my own (very first) 7 quick takes this week too!
Yay! Congratulations to David for finding a job! Especially one with benefits; that's a tremendous blessing and (in my experience) more the exception than the rule in entry-level positions. I'll continue to pray that he finds work inside his field, and that you find the right fit for Lucia's childcare needs. God bless! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't like throwing out jars either, and it makes Thomas absolutely crazy to see them sitting around in the apartment! Good luck with the search for childcare! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't throw away glass either! I can recycle it, but definitely not throw it away. I saw a thing (I can't remember where) where you put glue and food coloring... crap, maybe not food coloring, and paint the glass to make it look like seaglass. If I can find it again, I want to try it on some jars and put them in the kitchen window!
ReplyDeletePrayers for finding childcare!!!
I only throw away specific types of jars that I really don't like the shape or size of (haha), but most of the things I buy are in plastic anyway. I love that picture of Lucia! Good luck finding childcare!
ReplyDeleteYay! Congrats to David! I used to work at a coffee shop...loved it except for the person who owned the place...he wasn't a very "happy" person. I love glass jars also. I've got at least ten saved right now. Good luck with finding someone to take care of Lucia while you both work. OMG - that face!!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYay for David!! So happy for you guys! What a relief just having an income will be while he continues to look ya kniow? (That's what Steven did before he found his current job too.)
ReplyDeleteALso, on the jars I'm the same way! I do it with candle jars too! I'll have to go check out your jar board now!
I just added that book to my wish list, so cute. Enjoy the fun fall activities.
ReplyDeleteThat book is SUCH an awesome idea! Definitely going on my wishlist!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you and David! Congratulations on the new job and good luck on the babysitter hunt.
I never throw out glass jars. Drives Ryan CRAZY. Looking forward to checking out your new pinboard.
Ok, that picture looks like how my week has felt--cute but a bit harried, lol!
ReplyDeleteThat's how our week was too! Must be something in the water!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I can't wait until David starts. Glad to know I'm not the only one that drives my husband crazy with jars!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann-Marie. I few people have been asking what Lucia wants for her birthday and I need to make a wish list (that book is totally going on there!)
ReplyDeleteI think it helps his self esteem to get out of the house and contribute financially too! Plus free coffee!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I worked at a coffee shop a few years ago when we first got married and loved it. I hope he ends up loving it too!
ReplyDeleteThat picture is the best, right?
We don't have too many glass jars usually, but I just can't bear to get rid of them. Plastic gets thrown out right away though!
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't mean throw out, I meant recycle! We don't ever throw it out!
ReplyDeleteIf you find that craft, you should let me know. I'd love to do it too!
ReplyDeleteHaha, now that there is Pinterest, I have a feeling that there are tons of husbands that are going to be upset with their "craft supply hoarder" wives!
ReplyDeleteYes, the pay isn't very great and he probably wouldn't have taken the position without benefits, but the benefits make all the difference!
ReplyDeleteSo funny we both picked up on that! Thanks for sending me the post!
ReplyDeleteI dress up more now that I teach, but Sunday is definitely my favorite "dress up day". Thanks for the childcare prayers! We're nervous about finding the right fit.
ReplyDeleteWhat craft did you make with them?
ReplyDeleteI put rocks and candy in them and covered them with cloth that had our schools pattern on them for a gift :) They loved it!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm the only weird one that throws the glass jars away :( LOL
ReplyDeleteCongrats to David for the job! Benefits go such a long way, and are so important:) Good luck finding child-care for Lucia! I think (hope) you may find a SAHM more lenient on time changes then a daycare would be, at least thats how it is around where I live:) So excited for yall!
