What I Wore Sunday: Black & Brown

Sweater: Dress Barn | Cami: Ann Taylor Loft
Skirt: Casual Corner Annex | Boots: Macy's

I don't usually like black with brown, but it seems that's I've seen them paired quite a bit lately and I thought I would try it today.  I love these brown boots and thought that I could pull them off with the mustard sweater, but I'm just not too sure that I like how it turned out.  What do you think?

I never used to like mustard.  That is, until last year.  Now this sweater is a wardrobe staple of mine.  It goes with so many things!  And short sweaters like this go a long way, making many of my sleeveless dresses appropriate for work and Mass.  I have a white, grey, black, and red one as well.

This skirt?  Well, Casual Corner went out of business in 2006 but this skirt is still going strong.  Right after we moved back to Colorado, my mom purged her closet of all the clothing that she no longer liked, that no longer fit, or that didn't cover the scars on her chest from her thyroid surgery.  Several of the pieces weren't my style or were very dated, but there were several others that I saved from the Goodwill pile and are now oft-worn pieces of my wardrobe, including this skirt.

I'm linking up to Fine Linen and Purple's What I Wore Sunday linkup.  Check it out for more church attire inspiration.

So cute! I'm the same way with mustard. I used to hate it and now I have mustard everything (skirt, pants, cardi, shirt, etc). So of course I love your mustard sweater! And your boots! I want to know how to wear boots so badly but I just can't. You keep rocking those boots and let me live vicariously through you, k?

  5. I used to work with some very fashion-forward people supposedly who used to talk badly about people that wore black with brown so much that I was scared to ever wear brown!! I think I will have to try and wear it sometime soon. I love that mustard top! Sadly when people talk about mustard clothing all I an think of is Dwight from the office (that is his signature color).

  7. Haha, I never connected Dwight with mustard, but now I will think about it ever time I wear that sweater!

  10. I just started wearing boots a lot. I don't wear them too much with pants, but I wear them all the time with dresses! You should try it, it's not as hard as it looks!
