TeetheMe Review

Finding the perfect gift for a new mom can be a daunting task; however, I've come to love "monthly baby boxes" as a baby shower gift.  Each month, the mom gets to open a box full of "surprise" baby items specially curated by baby experts.  She gets to try out new products, many of which she may have never heard of previously.  And most of these boxes include products for mom to pamper herself as well!  If you are able to go in together with others for a gift, several months (or even a year) of a monthly baby box ensures that the new mom gets continue enjoying your gift long after the little one arrives.

I recently had the opportunity to receive a TeetheMe box for review.  TeetheMe is one of several monthly baby boxes currently on the market and I was very impressed by several aspects that set it apart from the competition.  First, TeetheMe boxes are available for babies and toddlers age newborn-3 years.  Once a little one turns a year old, the need for unique, continually evolving, age-appropriate items doesn't end and TeetheMe can continue to grow with your little one.  The other unique aspect I loves about my TeetheMe box is that the products were all-natural, green, and/or organic - only the best, most pure ingredients and materials for baby.  It's good to know that the products we receive are in line with our eco-friendly, natural, healthy living household.

Below are the contents of the box I received, their suggested retail value (or my best estimate of their value), and my impressions of them (or Lucia's impressions, which are ultimately way more important!).

Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm (1 oz. sample size) $7.48 (based on $14.95 for 2 oz. jar) I was excited to see a product from Earth Mama Angel Baby in the box; it's a company I was aware of previously as a leader in natural baby care, The bottom balm has worked great on Lucia's diaper rash and the small jar has lasted quite some time. I will definitely be buying a new jar when we run out.

Green Sprouts Bottle Bag $15 This was one of the products in the box that made me think, "How did they know I needed this?"  I breastfeed 90% of the time, but now that I'm going back to work and Lucia has started going on outings with my husband and parents, it's great to have a bottle bag to take breastmilk on the go.

Green Sprouts Cornstarch Teether $10 It's fitting that there was a teether in the TeetheMe box! And not just any teether, this one is amazing. It's the perfect shape for a small fingers to hold and play with.  By far, this is Lucia's preferred teether.  Unfortunately, I've noticed that this design has been discontinued, but I'm thinking of stocking up on them while they are still available as future baby gifts (and a replacement in case Lucia loses hers).

Dr. Robin Sunscreen and Body Wash samples This is perhaps the most disappointing item in the box because it is truly sample sized (small foil packets).  For me, the benefit of a monthly box is getting to try items before you buy them full-priced, yet these samples were only big enough for one use each.  I would want to try a products at least three or four times before deciding whether I wanted to purchase it in the future, especially for expensive items (and Dr. Robin products are pricey!).  I think these could have been included as bonuses, but shouldn't have been included on the product list.

Bridgewater Candle Company Votive Candle $2 I loved the scent of this little candle and even better was that this candle was a part of Bridgewater Candle Company's "Light a Candle - Feed a Child" campaign, which donates the proceeds from the candle to feed an orphaned child for week.

Greenleaf Classic Linen Sachet $2.50 When I first opened the box, I thought this sachet was an odd additional to a "baby box" but I soon changed my mind.  The sachet has a very strong smell, which makes it perfect to stick in the pocket of a diaper bag or even in a diaper pail under the pail liner for a fresh, fragrant small.  I have since gotten a second sachet to keep under one of the seats in the car.  For more fun ideas for using a sachet, check out Greenleaf's 101 Ways to Use Your Sachet.

Overall impression:  I was overall pleased with the box.  If you add up the value of the products, it is certainly worth the $24 monthly price.  Additionally, the box did exactly what, in my opinion, it is meant to do: introduce moms to new high-quality baby products.  Previous to receiving the box, I was aware of only one of the brands in the box, but now have come away with a few new favorites.  I was especially pleased to learn about Green Sprouts and have since found several other Green Sprouts products that I love.  I also was surprisingly happy with my Greenleaf sachet and will continue to buy them as gifts and for my household. I will also keep TeetheMe in mind for future baby shower and new baby gifts.
