Kaia has a family! Recently, I've been helping Jen spread the word and fund raise for a sweet orphan girl looking for a family. It looks like her family found her! Praise God! Thank you to everyone who helped by advertising with me (I donated all advertising money over the past month to her fund), sharing my posts and tweets, and praying. It's possible that her family may need help fundraising more for the adoption cost. If that's the case, I will certainly let you all know!
Do you prefer blogs that post every day or only every few days? I recently read this post with reasons not to blog every day. Makes sense, I think. I know I don't have time to read blog everyday and I often get to feeling "behind" on my favorite bloggers. Recently, I've felt like I've had just SO MUCH TO SAY though, that I find myself posting every day instead of just 3 days a week like I plan. But I've also noticed that my pageviews go down, and so do my comments, when I blog more often. I don't blog for the pageviews, but I do blog to connect with others and pageviews and comments are a good measure of how well I'm connecting with others.
Actually, I think my need to connect online is a symptom of a greater problem: my lack of "real life" socialization. I have some old friends from high school her that I've seen a few times since moving back, but I know I really need to find some like-minded mommy friends here. I keep putting it off because I know that David may find a job soon and we'll move far away. The last two places we've lived, I've made a close friend or two and it was heart-wrenching to leave. But I'm starting to think that if I put off making friends until we are settled somewhere, I'll be waiting forever.
Speaking of posting a lot, I've had a couple really great guest bloggers contribute over the past few weeks. If you missed them, you'll want to check them out: Cat shares how to save money by utilizing the local library. A Florida girl muses about what she's learned from her first winter in the snow. Amanda reflects on the difficulties and blessings of not being married...yet.
Lucia and I had an awesome day together yesterday! I'm ashamed to say that we don't get outside as much as we should on my days off, but yesterday the weather was beautiful so we took a romp in the side yard. Lucia is so close to walking on her own and only needs to hold on to one of my fingers to keep her balance. We traipsed around the yard, played hide and seek behind a tree, explored the textures of twigs and leaves, and found a tree stump that was the perfect size for Lulu to sit. To top it off, Lucia found a very special pinecone with which I could not get her to part.
Lucia loves to smell things. My dad has been working out of town a lot. He always brings soaps and shampoos home with him and puts them in his work shirt pocket for Lucia to find. She looks for the soap first thing when she sees my dad and smells it. Then she shoves it in everyone's face so they can smell it too. And she doesn't get tired of this. Today, my dad showed her how to put the soap bars in her pants pockets and then takes them out. She was doing it ALL NIGHT. I love finding out the things that interest her (they are rarely her toys).
If you think having more than two kids is selfish, you need to read this article. If you are anti-immigration, you need to read it also. In fact, everyone needs to read this article. Immigrants and large families are currently saving our country from population decline which has detrimental effects on society and the economy.
I love it when the blogs I read post every day! It gives me more to read when I do go to check it out, and it means I always have something to read while I drink my coffee in the morning. If I don't have time, I just catch up another day, or skip the posts I'm not interested in (mostly reviews and such).
ReplyDeleteAs a military wife, goodness knows I know about the not wanting to make friends and move thing, but trust me, it's totally worth it! Wouldn't you rather have those friends and keep in touch than be lonely or bored wherever you live? Plus, it just gives you a reason to go visit or meet up someplace fun!
I can't post every day. I'm not inspired enough to write anything worth reading every day and I don't have the time. I also have the same issue you do with feeling behind. I cannot keep up with the blogs I read as it is!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Lucia...TOO CUTE!
As a stay at home mom with a husband who works out of town, I love to read blogs in the evenings when I'm home alone! So when there are new posts everyday, I love it, 3x a week is awesome too though :)
ReplyDeleteI so totally and completely relate to your third quick take. About 100% the same situation over here, so I really don't mind reading everyone's posts every day. Hmm...maybe that's why I need to get out. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI am a smeller too! I smell EVERYTHING all the time. I smell clothes, I smell books, I smell food before I eat it. I wonder if Lucia will be like that! I'm told I have a really good sense of smell, so maybe that's why I do it. Maybe she's just super advanced! She could be a sommolier when she grows up!
ReplyDeleteDavid is a smeller too. Must be genetic!
ReplyDeleteI guess we both need to get out!
ReplyDeleteOf course you can't post every day! You are in MEDICAL SCHOOL! I only work a part time job!
ReplyDeleteThe problem is, those friendships just aren't kept up as much as I would like! You're right though, I should just go for it (although it is a bit more difficult making friends when you're no longer in school. Any advice?)
