7 Quick Takes Friday (91)

--- 1 ---

Last night was the 8th grade graduation.  This year's 8th grade is an amazing class.  Eighteen young adults that are hardworking, compassionate, and faithful.  They're all good friends, are incredibly respectful, and great school leaders.  This is my first year teaching, but I could even tell this is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of class.  It makes me so sad to know that they are going to be split up among many public high schools (there are no Catholic high schools in our area) and that they'll have the face the pressures that come along yet, but these kids are so grounded and have such a great foundation.  I think there may even be a future priest in their midst.  It was such a blessing to have taught this class my first year and I know I'm always going to remember this sweet group of kids.  Will you join me in saying a prayer for them?

After I wrote this post yesterday about our summer plans, I found out that we didn't actually sign Lucia up for swim lessons.  Our online registration didn't go through.  She wasn't signed up for gymnastics either, but that wasn't full yet and got her registered yesterday.  We're wait listed for swim lessons though.  Boo.

If you've ever had issues with body image, you may want to check out the book review Patty wrote for me about a book she's reading on the topic.  It's definitely on my wish list.  And speaking of wish lists, Sparkly Green Earrings finally became available on my PaperbackSwap wish list and I'm so looking forward to it arriving.

David and I had an amazing time at the wedding of my childhood friend last weekend! I've known her since I was born (she was nine days old at the time) and although we haven't been as close in recent years, it meant so much to be there for her.  I was tearing up the entire wedding and much of the reception too.  It was especially nice that my parents, brother, and his girlfriend were there as well.

What is your favorite movie? I have a few favorites including "Boondock Saints", "Schindler's List", and "Pirates of the Caribbean".  I know, kind of all over the place.  They each have their place and time.  If I really think about it, I probably could tell you another 20 or so of my favorite movies.  (As I'm writing this, "Hunger Games" and "The King's Speech" also came to mind.)  Anyway, any suggestions of what we have to see this summer?  "Silver Linings Playbook" is on my list.  (And the first season of Downton Abbey.)

Headed to auntie's house with the necessities: purse, obnoxious headband, & duck that says "Happy Easter".

My Lucia Rose will be 18 months next week.  Where has time gone?  She has such a personality, is full of kissed and cuddles, says about a hundred words (no, seriously, not exaggerating), and throws herself down in fits of rage when she doesn't get her way.  She's darling.  Even those tantrums are so cute that we have to stop ourselves from smiling and laughing when she does it.  We are so blessed.

Me & my baby, ladies in purple.  Totally unintentional.  Nana dressed Lulu while I got dressed.

  6. That headband kills me! Andrew always refuses to let me put anything remotely flamboyant on the kids, and now Cecilia refuses to keep hair accessories in for more than a few minutes :(

  7. Thanks, Rosie! It's actually the only real "flashy" headband she has. I tend to stay away from them myself, but a friend of mine got that for her with the matching purse and I secretly love it. I'm shocked she'll keep it on, but my SIL (who nannied for many, many years) told me that if she wore one a ton as an infant it wouldn't bother her as she got older so I tried to keep headbands on her as a little one.

  11. Really? I heard about it on a few blogs a while back and it's been in the back of my mind for a while. What other books have you been reading that would have prompted that suggestion?
