#Happy1stBdayBaby: Blueberry Deluxe Cloth Diaper Review

Before I get into the meat of this review, there is one thing that I want to make clear: I never, ever, ever am required to write a positive review.  I want to preface with this because I'm going to make some big claims in the review, like "This is our hands-down favorite pocket diaper," and they are all true!  We absolutely love this diaper and I don't want anyone to think that I was paid to say that!

Now that we have that out of the way, why is the Blueberry Deluxe so amazing?  First things first: it meets the criteria we require for a pocket diaper: leg gussets, hook-and-loop closure, and cute pring.  I don't have to tell you that this diaper is adorable! I'm not sure why any cloth diaper would be made without leg gussets, but some are (we have a few) and the gussets go a long way in preventing leaks.  These gussets are not tight on Lucia's legs, but seem snug enough to prevent leaks.  In fact, we've had very few leaks in this diaper, and those we have had were the result of not changing her for too long a period of time.
We've gone back and forth about whether we prefer hook-and-loop closures or snaps, but because it's difficult to keep Lucia still during diaper changes now that she can crawl, we can't spare the extra 20 seconds for snaps.  Unfortunately, I've found several companies recently that only offer snaps, so I was very happy that Blueberry Deluxe diapers are offered with a hook-and-loop option.

The Blueberry Deluxe diaper is a one-size diaper.  Although I know having diaper that fits from newborn to potty training is really great economically, we've tended to shy away from one-size diapers because they don't seem to fit as well as sized diapers.  Over time, we've found that there are good one-size diapers out there, but that you have to find the right ones.  The Blueberry Deluxe is one of the great one-size diapers.  There are two rows of buttons for adjusting the length, and the hook-and-loop means that the width is fully adjustable.  Looking at the diaper, I have no doubt that it will continue to grow with Lucia over the next year or so until she is potty trained.  After nearly two months of use, it looks nearly brand new and hope it will hold up well and be around for the next baby.

I received this diaper about two months ago, but am only now writing the review because I've had very little chance to use it.  My husband has been home with Lucia and he does the cloth diaper laundry (yes, I know I'm a lucky lady!).  Since this quickly became the favorite cloth diaper in our rotation, it was always the first he used as soon as the cloth diaper laundry was done, meaning that I never got the chance to use it!  Our cloth diaper stash is getting small as Lucia continues to outgrow some of her sized diapers and I hope to add a few more Blueberry diapers to the rotation.
Is this diaper perfect?  Almost.  The only additional feature I would like to see is a pocket that opens on both sides.  My husband agrees with me that it's more difficult to stuff an insert in a pocket when it is only open on one side.  This is a minor inconvenience, but if I had to say something negative about the diaper, this would be it.

How can you get a Blueberry Deluxe for yourself?  You can find Blueberry diapers on the Blueberry website or at a variety of cloth diaper retailers.  Or you can come back this Saturday for a chance to win one:

  1. I have to concur about Blueberry! I don't have their pocket diapers, but I have 2 of their covers and they are hands down my favorite cover! I cannot wait for the giveaway :-)

  2. I'd never heard of Blueberry dipes until now! I'm expecting my first babe in February and we've already started our stash, mostly of Kawaii (which suit our budget) and g-diapers (which we were gifted). I know I'll want to try out other brands just to see what works best for our little one- and I'm especially interested in the one size dipes once the baby is no longer a newborn. Thanks for the review!

  3. We love one-size diapers, especially now that we have a 2nd little one on the way. So much easier to carry around the same diapers for both kids!

  4. I'm a big fan of fitted diapers myself, but I have a feeling once I have a squirmy toddler, pockets and all in ones would be a tad easier to put on! Especially hook and loop ones...

  6. I have a Blueberry one size in chocolate brown with pink polka dots. It's minky on the outside and has a bamboo insert. It is one of my favorites, too. I have the hook and loop version. I know some people prefer snaps, but I'm with you on the ease of hook and loop. I would definitely love to add another to our stash because it's a great diaper.

  7. As a cloth diaper newbie, I've mostly been looking at one-size diapers. There seem to be very few brands that are TRULY one-size fits all, but this one appears to fit the bill. More bang for your buck! :)

  10. How great that this one-size diaper really gets a great fit! I have some of another brand that I sold because of poor fit.

  16. My favorite feature is first of all the adorable prints... But, I also love that after you used it for 2 months that it still looks new :) Nothing worse than getting a new diaper and it looks worn quickly,,,
